This is me!

I was teaching 4th grade at

Jupiter Elementary, Dec. 2000.

Yes- this is a real chalkboard!

Since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a Teacher. I remember playing school and teaching the neighborhood kids how to spell the names of states. I double majored in Elementary Education and Deaf Education and finally became a Teacher in Brevard 26 years ago.

Brevard became my home when my Dad retired from the Air Force and our family finally put down roots. I was so excited to attend Southwest Middle when it first opened, as everyone was the 'new kid', not just me! Brevard is where I met my husband and our children were born. This is my home and it would be an honor to serve the community that means so very much to me.

Values & Vision

We can all agree that the world seems to be changing as fast as the internet. My priority is to keep our community focused on ensuring our students have what they need to succeed.

Keeping Politics out of our Classrooms

Culture wars do not belong in our classrooms. Our students deserve a safe place to learn and grow. Our teachers deserve respect and a safe place to teach. Our families deserve to feel their children are in a safe place to thrive.

Retaining Teachers and Paraprofessionals

Our veteran teachers work hard to support new teachers and after a couple of years, the new teachers leave. The work is harder than people know. Our paraprofessionals work tirelessly to support students and they can only handle so much too. We need to recognize the difficulties and address the issues in order to keep our most valuable professionals working in our public schools.

Strengthening Services for Students with Disabilities

We need to ensure students with disabilities receive the services they deserve. Our ESE Teachers are managing increasing demands with limited resources and time. We must address the obstacles and make a plan that strengthens support for both students and the educators who serve them.

Bringing Brevard Together for Strong Public Schools

We all need to come together to support our public schools. We must keep politics out of our classrooms, support our professional educators, and make sure our schools can provide students with what they need in order to thrive.
